The short answer
Mostly. Kuro Ramen Bar's tonkotsu ramen scored 6 out of 10 on a 25-minute drive: the sealed broth container arrived warm and steaming, while the separately packed noodles softened. Reheat the broth for two minutes and it eats close to restaurant quality at about $0.48 per bite.
Ramen is the hardest test we run: broth, noodles, and toppings each want different things from a drive. We picked up the tonkotsu ramen from Kuro Ramen Bar in Pasadena and drove 25 minutes home, broth in one container and noodles in another.
The packaging is where Kuro Ramen Bar earns its keep. The broth travels in a tall, sealed container that was still warm to the touch and genuinely steaming when opened. The noodles, chashu, egg, and scallions ride separately, which is exactly right. Mixing happens at home, at full strength, the way it should.
The compromise is the noodles. Twenty-five minutes sitting in their own container softens them past al dente. On arrival the temperature read warm rather than hot, so the broth needed two minutes in a pot, and after that the soup itself was excellent: rich, deep, and unwatered.
At 16.95 dollars for roughly 35 bites, the price per bite lands near 0.48 dollars, reasonable for ramen of this quality. The egg survived beautifully, halved and still jammy, and the chashu kept its texture.
The trip home cost this bowl points, but the design shows a kitchen that thinks about transport. With a shorter drive, or a quick reheat, this is very good takeout ramen.

Frequently asked questions
Does Kuro Ramen Bar's tonkotsu ramen travel well?
Partly. The broth arrives steaming and the bowl scores 6 out of 10 overall, but 25 minutes softens the noodles. A quick reheat fixes it.
Is Kuro Ramen Bar better for pickup or delivery?
Pickup works well because the broth travels sealed and separate. Delivery would add time and soften the noodles further.
How long does the tonkotsu ramen stay hot?
In our 25-minute test, the sealed broth container arrived warm and still steaming, but the noodles need a quick reheat to serve hot.
